Sister Angeline Kieler, 91, who lived her religious vocation as an educator for seven decades, died at Sacred Heart in Milwaukee on October 8, 2022.
Sister Angeline was born on November 9,1930, in Kieler, Wisconsin. She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis on June 13, 1951; made her first profession of vows in 1953; and final (perpetual) vows in 1959.
Sister Angeline is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Kieler of Platteville, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; and by the School Sisters of St. Francis Community with whom she shared her life for 71 years.
Beginning in 1954, Sister ministered at schools in Wisconsin and Illinois.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Angeline taught at St. Clement School in Lancaster from 1954 to 1956, and again from 1989 to 2009. She also served at St. Clement as a substitute teacher (2004-2008) and latchkey program director (2008-2012).
In her retirement, Sister Angeline served as a volunteer at Maria Linden Senior Apartments in Milwaukee (2014-2020), where she also served in the ministry of prayer and presence (2020-2022). Sister resided at Sacred Heart in Milwaukee at the time of her death. A funeral Liturgy was held on October 18, 2022, at St. Joseph Chapel in Milwaukee, followed by a burial service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee.
