SINSINAWA — Sr. Angele Spehn, OP, died April 15, 2015, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held in the Gathering Place at Sinsinawa April 22, 2015, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Angele made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1947, and her final profession August 5, 1950. She taught English, speech, and theatre arts for 47 years and volunteered with various organizations for 13 years. Sister Angele served in Wisconsin and Illinois.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Angele taught at Edgewood High School, Madison, 1947-1952, and St. Clara Academy, Sinsinawa, 1952-1961.
Sister Angele was born January 25, 1919, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Ellen (McLoughlin) Spehn. Her parents and a sister, Genevieve Spehn, preceded her in death. She is survived by cousins and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 67 years.
