SPRING GREEN — The motto of St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in Spring Green is, “We’re more than a school . . . We’re a family!”
This was evident by the disappointment among St. John’s teachers when they heard the news that schools would not be reopening for the rest of the school year. They all understood the reasoning, but they just miss their students so much.
The teachers have been working very hard creating lessons for online learning. They come to school to create instructional videos or pick up needed supplies, but they walk into an empty classroom.
They would stop by the principal’s office in tears, because they miss their students. The principal and parents of the school have commented on the outstanding education St. John’s teachers continue to provide their students.
The principal, Terrie Feigl, felt something had to be done to help brighten the teachers’ spirits. She made a paper cutout of every student, complete with their yearbook picture, and placed them in their classrooms.
If the teachers couldn’t see their students in person, at least when they entered their classroom they could see their smiling faces.
Mrs. Feigl said it was heartwarming to see the joy on the teachers’ faces as they entered their classrooms.
