WATERLOO — Fr. Jorge Miramontes, pastor of Holy Family Parish, is leading a Spiritual Warfare Series called, “Angels and Demons.” It is being held at the school cafeteria, 387 S. Monroe St., on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. The series began Sept. 29 and continues to Nov. 3.
The program is for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge about angels and demons and understand how to engage in ongoing spiritual battle.
Father Miramontes will help participants know who their friends and enemies are in the spiritual world. He hopes that people will realize and acknowledge that we are not engaged in a battle in life against flesh and blood but against the spirits of darkness, against Satan.
Father Miramontes said, “I already knew about this subject. I’m not a master on it but I found my vocation through spiritual warfare, by fighting with the weapons of God against the Devil and demons who want to destroy us and want us to miss our mission in life.
“I realize also that not many people are aware of this ongoing battle, war. Evil is defeated already — Jesus won the war. Yet, the Devil, evil, is still engaged in a fierce battle for souls. He wants to take as many as he can take with him so he’s giving us a hell of a battle, pun intended. To defeat an enemy, you have to know your enemy.”
No registration is required. In addition to the talks, participants are asked to read the following books: Angels and Demons: What Do We Really Know About Them? by Peter Kreeft; An Exorcist Tells His Story, by Fr. Gabriele Amorth; and Interview With An Exorcist, by Fr. Jose Antonio Fortea.
