SINSINAWA — Sr. Rosemary “Robi” Huddleston, OP, died July 31, 2021, at St Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. Her religious name was Sister Tobia. The funeral Mass will be held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Sept. 8, at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery. A wake will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7, also at the motherhouse. Both services will be livestreamed at www.sinsinawa.org/live, with repeat broadcasts available later by choosing the “on demand” tab.
Sister Robi made her first profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa Aug. 5, 1960, and her perpetual profession Aug. 5, 1965. She taught for nine years before going to Santa Cruz, Bolivia, as a missionary for 13 years. Sister Robi served as parish consultant for six years, provincial councilor for the Western Province of the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation for six years, and international mission coordinator for 12 years. She volunteered as an interpreter for 10 years. Sister Robi had a giant capacity to love and share laughter. She was dedicated to preaching and teaching the Gospel in order to participate in the building of a holy and just Church and society. Sister Robi served in the District of Columbia, Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as Bolivia.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Robi taught at Edgewood High School, Madison, 1964-1971.
Sister Robi was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor (Kush) Huddleston. Her parents and a sister, Margaret Asward, preceded her in death. She is survived by three sisters, Eleanor Zoeller, Dolores “Dee” O’Malley, and Arlene Sushinski; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 60 years of religious life.
