SINSINAWA — Sr. Josette Pahl, OP, died October 18, 2017, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, October 23, 2017, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Josette made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1938, and her final profession August 5, 1941. She taught for 46 years and served as principal for two of those years.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Josette taught at St. Mary, Portage, 1949-1951. She ministered as a volunteer at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, 2000-2008.
Sister Josette was born August 8, 1919, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Herman and Dolores (St. Martin) Pahl. Her parents; two sisters, Sr. Marian Pahl, MM, and Eileen Somers; and three brothers, Gerald Pahl, Br. George Pahl, FSC, and Br. Cyril Pahl, FSC, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 79 years of religious life.
