
Sister Joselda Kuhle, who lived her religious vocation in education and pastoral ministry, died at Sacred Heart in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on March 5, 2025. Sister Joselda was 90 years old.
Sister Joselda (nee Josephine Clara) was born on February 10, 1935, in Kieler, Wisconsin. She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis on June 13, 1952; made her first profession of vows on June 21, 1954; and final (perpetual) vows on June 21, 1960.
Sister is survived by her brother, Edwin (Joyce) Kuhle of East Dubuque, Iowa; her sisters Bonnie Tranel of Gillette, Wyoming, and Karen (Ed) Buchanan of Baggs, Wyoming; many nieces and nephews; numerous friends; and by the School Sisters of St. Francis community with whom she shared life for 73 years.
Beginning in 1954, Sister Joselda ministered in Wisconsin and New York. In the Diocese of Madison, Sister taught at St. John the Baptist School in Montello from 1967 to 1968, and served as pastoral associate at St. Jude Parish in Beloit from 1996 to 2013.
In retirement, Sister served at Maria Linden Apartments in Milwaukee as a volunteer (2013-2020) and through her prayer and presence (2020-2025).
A funeral Liturgy was celebrated on March 14 in St. Joseph Chapel in Milwaukee, followed by a burial service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee.
