SINSINAWA — Sister Jeremiah Farrell, OP, died May 8, 2019, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, May 15, 2019, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Jeremiah made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1954, and her perpetual profession August 5, 1957. She taught for 34 years and was the adult education director and teacher for nine years. Sister Jeremiah served in the culinary arts for six years, as activity director for one year, and in transportation for four years. She served in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, and the District of Columbia.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Jeremiah taught at Blessed Sacrament, Madison, 1958-1961, and served in the transportation department at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1983-1986 and 1993-1996.
Sister Jeremiah was born November 14, 1934, in Redwood Falls, Minn., the daughter of Jeremiah and Beatrice (Butler) Farrell. Her parents; three sisters, Elizabeth “Bette Mae” Sidman, Eileen Palmer, and Patricia Kiel; and three brothers, Patrick Farrell, James Farrell, and William Farrell, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Denise Alberg; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 64 years of Religious life.
