MADISON — Bishop Robert C. Morlino recently approved the election of the Diocese of Madison Catholic Committee on Scouting (DMCCS) executive board, which was nominated at its annual meeting on June 18.
Elected as co-chairs of the DMCCS are Karen Camilleri and Michael Kleckner.
Camilleri, a Portage resident, has been an adult member of Girl Scouting for 25 years and previously served as secretary since the committee’s inception.
Kleckner has been involved in Boy Scouting for 38 years through Troop 102 at St. Maria Goretti and has been re-elected chair of Boy Scouting since 2005.
Others elected include: Secretary Kathy Soukup; Treasurer Paul Banegas; Chair of Religious Emblems and Recognitions Committee, Robert Chiesa; Chair of Religious Activities Committee, Lenny Komorowski; Chair of Training Committee, Terri Komorowski; Chair of Mem-bership Committee, Mabel Gotstein; Chair of Vocations Committee, Dennis Tiedt.
DMCCS was founded in 2004 and exists to promote and enhance the Catholic dimension of Boy Scout and Girl Scout units. Committees promote religious emblems and awards, provide training opportunities for adult leaders and scouts, and promote cooperation between the Diocese of Madison and the local Girl Scout and Boy Scout councils. Each year, a large Catholic Celebration is held for scouts throughout the diocese.
Adults who are registered members of the BSA or GSUSA or parish DRE/CRE or DYM/CYM are invited to join the DMCCS. The annual membership dues are $10, and an application can be found on the Diocese of Madison Web site.
There are many opportunities to volunteer, both at events and with training and prayer. Visit www.madisondiocese.org and search under “scouting.” Or call Jennifer Prestil at 608-201-6289 or e-mail mjrprestil@charter.net for more information.
