SAUK CITY — Adoration of Our Lord is experiencing bountiful growth at Divine Mercy Parish in Sauk City.
Less than a month after proposing the idea of adding an additional day of Eucharistic Adoration, parishioners responded with enthusiasm, and Our Lord is now being exposed at St. Aloysius Church following the 8:15 a.m. Mass on Wednesdays until Benediction at 7:45 a.m. on Fridays.
For over eight years, Eucharistic Adoration had been available in the church from Wednesday morning until Thursday morning. A column in the bulletin and words from the pulpit by pastor Fr. Jared Hood inspired parishioners to see the value in continuing that Adoration for an additional 24 hours.
Father Hood presented ideas for spending an hour with the Lord: praying a Rosary for one’s family, reading a bit from a spiritual book, and simply talking to the Lord.
He commented that “in a culture where so many look for peace, Eucharistic Adoration is a gold mine: an hour away from the running around, the noise, the confusion, the stress . . .”
Within a couple of weeks, people from the parish and from the surrounding area had committed to covering each of the additional one-hour shifts, and so beginning February 2, Adoration continued until Friday morning.
Everyone is invited to stop by anytime on Wednesdays or Thursdays to join in adoring Our Lord exposed in the monstrance. Many adorers choose to spend an hour, while others stop by even for a brief time with Him.
Adorers willing to commit to a specific hour and substitutes are always needed and welcomed. Call Ann at 608-643-2449 for more information.
