CROSS PLAINS — On Friday, April 12, St. Francis Xavier School, Cross Plains, became a “little Heaven” when the saints “came marching in.”
The fifth graders, under the guidance of their teacher, Jennifer Esser, did research on their patron saints or those they were interested in.
Dressed as the saint they portrayed, we saw St. John the Baptist; St. Longinus (the one who put the spear in the side of Jesus); Mother Elizabeth Seton (founder of Catholic schools); St. Margaret of Scotland; St. Michael the Archangel; St. Felicity, a servant of St. Perpetua, both of whom were martyred.
Each saint told their life stories as if they had lived it themselves. Knowing how the saints lived their beliefs, it is the hope that these children will also carry their beliefs into their adult lives.
