MADISON — Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Madison offers special areas for infant burials within its cemeteries.
The Department of Cemeteries, which operates four cemeteries in Madison, Janesville, and Beloit, provides burial space and interment services for infant burials, through one year of age, at no charge to bereaved families.
A special area is also maintained within these areas for the burial of unborn children, also at no charge to families for cemetery space or interment services.
All of these areas for burials of infants and unborn children are maintained by the Department of Cemeteries in perpetuity.
During the coming year, Catholic Cemeteries will also be undertaking a project to improve and enhance these special areas. As an important part of this project, new monuments will be placed in the cemeteries to provide a suitable memorialization for those buried in these infant burial grounds.
The Angel Memorial, shown with this article, has been selected for placement in the infant burial areas. Each of the memorials costs about $6,000.
Catholic Cemeteries is asking for people’s help in completing this very special memorial project. If you would like to help, contributions can be sent to Angel Memorial, Catholic Cemeteries, 2705 Regent St., Madison, WI 53705. Contributions are tax deductible.
