MADISON — We are currently experiencing the Eucharistic Revival in the United States, a pivotal moment in our faith when we encourage everyone to live a life centered on the Eucharist, the Mass, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
The Diocese of Madison, to celebrate the Eucharistic Revival, will host its Diocesan Eucharistic Congress for the entire family the weekend of September 29 to October 1.
As we approach this great event of conversion and Eucharistic love, the Office of Hispanic Ministry together with Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison is offering Regional Eucharistic Gatherings in the coming months.
This past March 11 and 12, we held the first two gatherings for the communities of Waunakee and for all the parishes of Madison.
On March 11, the Eucharistic Gathering took place at St. John the Baptist Church in Waunakee from 5 to 7 p.m. with the participation of about 70 Hispanics.
On March 12, the event took place at Holy Name Heights in Madison from 4 to 6 p.m. with about 75 Hispanics participating.
There will be two more gatherings in June, one at St. Jude Parish in Beloit for the communities of Beloit and Janesville, and the other one at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Jefferson for the communities of Marshall, Watertown, and Jefferson.
Each gathering centers on the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with a Holy Hour, reflective music, and prayer.
At both events this month, the community prayed a Scriptural Rosary and listened attentively to the bishop as he gave his reflection on the Eucharist.
The bishop reminded us, in his message, of the beauty of the Mass, and the similarity of celebrating the Mass here on earth and living the Paschal feast in the kingdom of Heaven.
Bishop Hying also encouraged the Hispanic community to experience the Holy Mass more deeply by practicing Lectio Divina, the meditation on Scripture, every week before Sunday Mass.
The event ended with a simple reception offered to the Hispanic families that attended.
The Office of Hispanic Ministry also updated the community on the next steps for the diocesan office, which will focus on serving marriages and families.
Information was also shared about the diocesan event Go Make Disciples Live coming up this April and May, as well as sharing information on the Diocesan Eucharistic Congress that will be held this fall.
