ASHTON/CROSS PLAINS — Last fall, Kelsey (McCarthy) Townsend contracted COVID late in pregnancy.
Her baby Lucy was delivered prematurely at 39 weeks while Kelsey was in an induced coma and on a ventilator.
Kelsey remained in the hospital on a ventilator and under a prognosis that included lung transplant before she could return home to a normal life.
Following what could be described as a miraculous recovery, Kelsey was able to return home to first meet her new daughter early this year after nearly three months in the hospital.
Husband Derek has been providing full-time care for the family’s four children and is therefore unable to work his regular job.
To help the family, three local Knights of Columbus Councils are selling pulled pork (2.5-pound bag for $20).
