WISCONSIN DELLS — Priests of the Diocese of Madison will be gathering for their annual Presbyteral Assembly from Sunday evening, Sept. 21, to Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
The assembly is an opportunity for prayer and fellowship among the priests of the diocese, as well as education and reflection.
This year’s assembly will focus on “Reflections on the Sacred Liturgy.” Keynote speaker at the assembly will be Fr. Douglas Martis, director of the Liturgical Institute and chair of the Department of Systematics and Department of Worship at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, Ill.
The Liturgical Institute promotes the liturgical life of the Church through its academic programs, publishing, research, and special projects. It prepares men and women for service in the Church’s liturgical life at the parish, diocesan, and university levels.
Father Martis holds S.T.B., M.Div., and S.T.L. degrees from the University of St. Mary of the Lake and D.E.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the Université de Paris IV (La Sorbonne). He is the editor of the Mundelein Psalter; a member of the board of trustees of Lewis University; member of the Society for Catholic Liturgy; and contributor to The Way, La Maison-Dieu, and Antiphon.
The assembly will include concelebrated Masses, a Memorial Service for deceased priests, Holy Hour with Eucharistic Adoration, Benediction, and opportunity for Confession. Priests celebrating their jubilees will be honored.
