MADISON — Parishes throughout the Diocese of Madison are preparing for the launch of the 2009 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). Through support of the Appeal and the generosity of our people, the Diocese of Madison hopes to raise $3.7 million dollars to support the ministries essential to our diocese.
Over 61,000 households throughout the diocese received a letter from Bishop Robert C. Morlino encouraging us to become the cornerstones of our parishes by participating in the Annual Appeal and drawing together in solidarity as a community of faith. Now, parishes will continue to build momentum for this faith filled initiative by focusing on the importance of the ministries supported by the Appeal and by helping parishioners identify their role in the diocesan Church and beyond.
The weekend of April 25 and 26 is scheduled for Announcement Weekend. Information will be provided in parish bulletins and pastors will speak on the importance of diocesan-wide participation in the Appeal.
The following weekenad, May 2 and 3, will be Commitment Weekend, where parishioners are given the opportunity to participate in the Appeal by completing their commitment card at their parish, if they have not already done so.
The diocesan offices will provide an audio homily on Commitment Weekend, building upon the theme of the Appeal, “Become the Cornerstone,” and introduce individuals who demonstrate living life as a cornerstone of our faith here in the Madison Diocese.
This week’s Catholic Herald print edition includes an insert which explains the importance of the Appeal and the way funds will be used. Please look for this informative insert and prayerfully consider the upcoming opportunities you have in your parish over the next few weeks.
No one can do everything but everyone can do something!
