DEFOREST — The faith formation students at St. Olaf Parish in DeForest participated in “Operation Shoebox–Madison” for the first time in December.
Operation Shoebox is a local program that provides needed academic and personal care items during the Christmas season for children and single mothers living in shelters or participating in community neighborhood center programs.
Each class from 4K through Confirmation was assigned items to bring, ranging from socks and hats to shampoo and school supplies.
Confirmation students helped set up and organize the donated items on Friday evening, Dec. 5. Students and parishioners met on Saturday, Dec. 6, to stuff, wrap, and label the shoeboxes.
Thanks to the very generous spirit of the students and parishioners at St. Olaf, we were able to provide 140 shoeboxes (plus many extra items) to those in need this Christmas season. It was truly a blessing having everyone working together to make the project a success.
