MADISON — Our Lady of Hope Clinic has expanded its hours as of the first of the year, adding more free walk-in appointments for its uninsured recipient patients.
Our Lady of Hope Clinic is Dane County’s only full time primary care clinic to offer free medical care to the community’s uninsured population.
The clinic is now open from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Serving uninsured patients
Uninsured patients who arrive before it opens in the morning or afternoon are able to schedule a same-day appointment as the provider’s schedule allows. Uninsured patients cannot make appointments in advance.
Patients should note that, due to the high demand for medical services, the clinic is not able to accommodate late walk-ins.
The clinic is located in the Olde Towne Office Park complex at 6425 Odana Rd.
Our Lady of Hope Clinic, founded by Drs. Michael Kloess and Anne Volk-Johnson, first opened in the spring of 2009.
The clinic is funded, primarily, by benefactor patients who pay an annual fee for concierge medicine which features direct continuous access to a personal physician, among other benefits.
Dr. Johnson resigned from the clinic at the end of 2011 to focus on her young family.
Expanding hours
Dr. Kloess, the clinic’s president, agreed to add Dr. Johnson’s shifts to his schedule and to expand the clinic’s hours.
“As word of the clinic’s existence has spread, so has the demand for our services,” Dr. Kloess explained. “By the end of last year, we were often forced to ask our uninsured recipients to return to the clinic on another day in order to be seen by a provider.
“The board of directors and I agreed to increase my time at the clinic in an effort to see more patients each week. As always, I am humbled by the support the clinic has received from our benefactors, individual donors, and the corporate and foundation community who supports our mission of providing free care to the uninsured.”
