HIGHLAND — On Sunday, Sept. 26, SS. Anthony and Philip Parish in Highland will celebrate its annual Oktoberfest.
This year the event will feature a new contest — a heaviest squash or pumpkin weigh-in. Local growers will vie for the $400 first prize. Visit www.stsanthonyphilip.com/activities.htm for rules, prizes, and details or call 608-929-7490.
The activities begin with a polka Mass at 9 a.m. followed by a German meal. There is also a beer garden, live polka music, pumpkin contests, kid’s crafts, raffle, and live auction. A new Hammerschlagen tests skill with a nail and hammer.
