SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Theresa Ann Palmisano (Augustino), died Feb. 5, 2011, at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Wis. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Feb. 10, 2011, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Theresa Ann made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1955, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1958. She ministered as a teacher for 34 years, with the Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) program for four years, as a pastoral minister for five years, as a religious education coordinator for two years, and as support staff for various ministries for 15 years. Sister Theresa Ann served in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Oklahoma.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Theresa Ann taught at St. Mary, Portage, 1977-1979, and ministered as support staff at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1993-1995 and 2006-2011.
Sister Theresa Ann was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Champaign, Ill., the daughter of John and Augusta (Gentille) Palmisano. Her parents and three brothers, Charles Palmisano, John Palmisano, and Michael Palmisano, preceded her in death. She is survived by two sisters, Rosemary Spradley and Sister Catherine Rita Palmisano, OP (Thomasina); a brother, Francis Palmisano; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 55 years.
