SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Cornelia Graf died Feb. 1, 2011, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Feb. 5, 2011, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Cornelia made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 7, 1941, and her final profession Aug. 7, 1944. She taught for 54 years and served as support staff at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, for eight years. Sister Cornelia served in Illinois, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Alabama.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Cornelia ministered at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, teaching adult basic education, 1989-1995, and as support staff, 1995-2003.
Sister Cornelia was born March 3, 1914, in Brownsville, Minn., the daughter of John and Rose Ellen (Boardman) Graf. Her parents; two sisters, Ruth Corcoran and Rose Langen; and three brothers, John Graf, Leo Graf, and Lawrence Graf, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 69 years.
