SINSINAWA — Sr. Margaret Anne Henn, OP (Mary DeMontfort), died October 5, 2010, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa October 8, 2010, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Margaret Anne made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1947, and her final profession August 5, 1950. She ministered as a teacher for 22 years; a nurse for 13 years; in support roles for schools, parishes, and community for seven years; and volunteered for five years. Sister Margaret Anne served in Illinois, Wisconsin, Montana, Iowa, California, Arizona, and New Mexico.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Margaret Anne taught at St. Raphael, Madison, 1950-1953, and ministered as a nurse at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1973-1974 and 1980-1985.
Sister Margaret Anne was born February 15, 1919, in Briarton, Wis., the daughter of Charles and Anna (Leirich) Henn. Her parents; five sisters, Edith Wilken, Gertrude Prahl, Agnes Rodgers, and two infants at birth; and five brothers, Aloysius Henn, Anthony Henn, George Henn, Jerome Henn, and an infant at birth, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Anna Gorges; three brothers, Adolph “Michael” Henn, Robert Henn, and Fidelis Henn; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 63 years.
