SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Simone Antonich died February 20, 2008, at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa. The Mass of Resurrection was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa February 22, 2008, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Simone was born April 7, 1918, in Opportunity, Mont. Sister Simone made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 6, 1940, and her final profession August 6, 1943. She ministered for 54 years as a teacher and education administrator; hospital chaplain; and prioress of St. Dominic Villa, Dubuque, Iowa. Sister Simone served in Illinois, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Nebraska, California, and Iowa.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Simone taught at St. Joseph, Baraboo, 1958-1959.
