SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Adelaide Babicz (Aquilina) died November 8 at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa. The Mass of Resurrection was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa November 12, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Adelaide was born November 6, 1908, in North Chicago, Ill. Sister Adelaide made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1930, and her final profession August 5, 1933. Her ministry spanned 77 years, 52 of which she joyfully placed her culinary arts talents in the service of her Sisters and the students at St. Clara Academy, Sinsinawa. She retired in 1982. She served in Maryland; New York; Washington, D.C.; Wisconsin; Iowa; and Illinois.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Adelaide ministered in the culinary arts at St. Clara Academy, Sinsinawa, 1934-1954. She lived in community at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1991-1996, and at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa, 2000 until her death.
