SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Ann Bourke (Malchus) died September 1, 2007, at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa. The Mass of Resurrection was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa September 4, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Ann was born February 20, 1932, in Chicago. Sister Ann made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican September 21, 1956, and her final profession September 21, 1959. Her ministry spanned 39 years as a high school science and math teacher; four years as Vicaress Provincial of the Southwest Province for the Congregation; three years as a high school assistant administrator; and six years as the Project Reach Programs Director. She served in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, and Oklahoma.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Ann served the Congregation as the Vicaress Provincial of the Southwest Province from 1972 to 1976.
