SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Noel Boggs died March 9, 2009, at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa. The Mass of Resurrection was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa March 13, 2009, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Noel was born February 4, 1911, in Fort Wayne, Ind. She made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1932, and her final profession August 5, 1935. Sister Noel served in elementary education for 37 years as teacher or principal; as a religion teacher or director of religious education for 10 years; as sub-prioress at St. Dominic Villa, Dubuque, for two years; as director of Camp We Ha Kee, Winter, Wis., for 12 summers; and in inter-faith ministry 22 years. She served in New Jersey, Illinois, New York, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Iowa, Maryland, Florida, California, South Carolina, and Israel. In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Noel ministered with interfaith dialogue at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1990 to 1992 and 1995 to 2000.
