SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Ellen Mary Cull died April 14, 2010, at Southwest Health Center, Platteville, Wis. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa April 19, 2010, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Ellen Mary made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican March 8, 1939, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1942. She taught elementary and junior high for 42 years and served in parish ministry for 10 years, as pastoral minister and sacristan for seven years, and as support staff at the Motherhouse for two years. Sister Ellen Mary served in Illinois, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Ellen Mary served as support staff at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1999-2001.
Sister Ellen Mary was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Lewistown, Mont., the daughter of James and Ellen (O’Connor) Cull. She was raised in Minneapolis. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by four sisters, Ellen Bouslough, Mary McGinty, Joanne Cull, and Dorothy Brown; a brother, James Cull; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 71 years.
