SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Alice Mary Glennon, OP (Archangela), died Sept. 30, 2009, at Horizon Hospice Home, Billings, Mont. A memorial Mass was held Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Billings. The funeral Mass will be held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Oct. 9, 2009, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Alice Mary made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1950, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1953. She ministered as a teacher for 20 years, a nurse aide for three years, a licensed practical nurse for 20 years, and a volunteer for 12 years. Sister Alice Mary served in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, Nebraska, Montana and Iowa. In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Alice Mary taught at St. Joseph, Baraboo, 1957-1958. She served as a nurse aide, 1970-1973, and a licensed practical nurse, 1982-1987, at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, and volunteered there, 1995. Sister Alice Mary was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Laurel, Mont., the daughter of Leo and Laura (Edwards) Glennon. Her parents; a sister, Laura “Gertie” Williams; a brother, William Glennon; and two nephews, William Glennon, Jr., and Gary Williams, preceded her in death. She is survived by three generation of nieces and nephews, cousins and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 59 years.
