SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Petronita Hegdahl died March 5, 2007, at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa. The Mass of Resurrection was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa March 8 followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Petronita was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Minneapolis. Sister Petronita made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1938, and her final profession August 5, 1941. She was an elementary teacher and principal for 46 years. Sr. Petronita served in Illinois, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, California, and Minnesota. In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Petronita worked in the transportation department at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1994-2005.
