SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Marie Robert Letford died April 21, 2009, at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa. The Mass of Resurrection was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa April 24, 2009, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Marie Robert was born September 6, 1913, in Bloomington, Ill. Sister Marie Robert made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican March 8, 1938, and her final profession August 5, 1941. She taught for 19 years and was principal for 29 years, six of those years serving as principal/teacher. Sister Marie Robert ministered as the sacristan at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, for four years, and in the business office at Camp WeHaKee, Winter, Wis., for 19 years. She served in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Marie Robert was principal at St. Joseph, Baraboo, 1970-1980.
