SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Marie Wilfrid Seng died March 23, 2008, at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa. The Mass of Resurrection was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa March 27 followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Marie Wilfrid was born January 2, 1925, in Milwaukee. Sister Marie Wilfrid made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1947, and her final profession August 5, 1950. She ministered in the culinary arts and as a housekeeper for 21 years; as the sacristan at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, for 12 years; and as a tutor/aide for two years. Sister Marie Wilfrid served in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, New Jersey, New York, and Maryland.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Marie Wilfrid ministered in the culinary arts at Edgewood Convent, Madison, 1947-1948, and as support staff and sacristan at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1968-1980. She retired to live in community at the Motherhouse in 1982. Sister Marie Wilfrid played the marimba for the Sinsinawa Strings Orchestra.
