SINSINAWA — Sister Consuela Wall, OP, died Feb. 27, 2010, at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Wis. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa March 3, 2010, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Consuela made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1943, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1946. She ministered in education as a teacher for 26 years, as a principal for 11 years, as an assistant principal for five years while she also taught religious education, and as a school secretary for three years. Sister Consuela was a convent administrator for 12 years. She served in Illinois, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Colorado and Iowa.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Consuela served as principal at St. John Vianney, Janesville, 1957-1963. Sister Consuela was born Jan. 22, 1916, in Evanston, Ill., the daughter of Michael and Josephine (Butler) Wall. Her parents; a sister, Josephine Ryan; and a brother, the Rev. John Wall, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 66 years.
