SINSINAWA, Wis. — Sister Mary Herman Duttlinger, OP, died June 5, 2012, at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa June 11, 2012, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Mary Herman made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1944, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1947. She taught for 38 years and ministered as support staff in schools for 18 years. Sister Mary Herman served in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and New York.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Mary Herman served as support staff at St. Jerome, Columbus, 1982-1985.
Sister Mary Herman was born July 27, 1918, in Wedron, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Theresa (Schiffgens) Duttlinger. Her parents; a sister, Marie Mahieu; and four brothers, Harold Duttlinger, Clarence Duttlinger, Charles Duttlinger, and Raymond Duttlinger, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 67 years.
