SINSINAWA — Sister Lucinda Lee, OP, died May 1, 2012, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa May 4, 2012, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Lucinda made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1935, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1938. She taught for 46 years, served as pastoral associate for six years, was vicaress of the Province I Sisters at the Motherhouse for four years, and ministered as a caregiver for 14 years. Sr. Lucinda served in Illinois, New York, Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Lucinda ministered as the vicaress of the Province I Sisters at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1981-1985. She served as pastoral associate at Blessed Sacrament Parish, Madison, 1985-1992.
Sister Lucinda was born May 21, 1914, in Wausau, Wis., the daughter of Edwin and Lucinda (Sloan) Lee. Her parents; two sisters, Virginia Hastreiter and Casilda Kornis; and four brothers, Francis Lee, Maurice “Mike” Lee, Lawrence Lee, and the Rev. Henry Lee, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 76 years.
