SINSINAWA — Sr. Joanice Hogan, OP, died Oct. 21, 2011, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Oct. 28, 2011, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Joanice made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican March 8, 1938, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1941. She taught for 39 years and ministered as principal for one year. Sister Joanice served as a pastoral minister for 15 years. She served in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, New York and Minnesota.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Joanice served as principal at Edgewood Campus School, Madison, 1967-1968, and as a volunteer at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1995-2008.
Sister Joanice was born Aug. 2, 1918, in Franklin Park, Ill., the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Fahey) Hogan. Her parents; a sister, Patricia Hogan; and a brother, John Hogan, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 73 years.
