MADISON — The Madison Diocesan Choir is pleased to announce the resumption of the youth pastoral summer music clinic scholarship.
These scholarships are meant to encourage continued participation in music ministries by supporting summer music education by the youth attending a summer music clinic.
The scholarship is now called the Madison Diocesan Choir Patrick Gorman Youth Pastoral Musician Scholarship Award, as a memorial to Gorman who died last year.
While director of the diocesan choir, Gorman was instrumental in working with the choir and the diocese to establish the scholarship in 2018.
Gorman was also a supporter of youth ministry opportunities within the diocese.
The scholarship is open to students finishing sixth, seventh, eighth ninth, 10th, or 11th grades who belong to a parish in the Diocese of Madison and participate in regularly scheduled music ministries (vocal or instrumental).
Scholarship applicants must submit a completed application form and write an original essay responding to the two questions: “Why do I participate in music ministry?” and “How will attending a summer music clinic help me in this endeavor?”
