Msgr. Terrence Leo Connors died on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the age of 79 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
He was born on February 11, 1945, in Washington, D.C.
Monsignor Connors was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rita Connors, and by his brother, John Timothy.
After attending his local St. Anthony Grade School, Monsignor Connors completed his high school studies at Queen of Apostles Seminary, Madison, and his general collegiate studies at St. Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, Wis.
He also completed his philosophical and theological studies at St. Francis de Sales Seminary. Monsignor Connors was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Cletus F. O’Donnell of Madison on May 23, 1975, at St. Raphael Cathedral, Madison.
He received Investiture as a Prelate of Honor (Monsignor) on July 9, 2002.
Monsignor Connors began serving in the Diocese of Madison as a parochial vicar at St. James Parish, Madison; St. Joseph Parish, Fort Atkinson; St. Jude Parish, Beloit; St. Aloysius Parish, Sauk City, and then as pastor at St. Mary Parish, Bloomington, with Mission to St. John, Patch Grove; St. John the Baptist Parish, Jefferson; St. Thomas the Aquinas Parish, Madison, and St. Albert the Great Parish, Sun Prairie from which he retired as pastor emeritus.
Along with his parish service, Monsignor Connors served numerous terms on both the St. Raphael Board and Priest Personnel Board.
Monsignor Connors also served in the United States Coast Guard from 1966 to 1970.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 602 Everglade Dr., Madison, on Monday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m.
Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison will celebrate the Mass with Fr. Michael Barrett, a senior priest of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, as homilist.
Visitation at St. Thomas Church will be held on Monday, Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. until shortly before the time of the Funeral Mass.
Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Madison.
