Hi all. In case you missed it, we recently had the Madison Diocesan Eucharistic Congress in Waunakee.
Like the Eucharist, it was kind of a big deal.
A lot could be said and shared, but only so much can go into the paper.
With the nearly 750 pictures that I took over the weekend and the amount of everything that went on, I could probably write a decent-sized book about the whole event.
Instead of that, we’ll do what we can and will strive to give you a summary of all that happened.
The volunteers can’t be recognized enough for all of the help that they provided, especially those who welcomed everyone as they arrived.
What is usually a hassle and a third was relatively easy — finding my name tag. The weekend got off to a great start thanks to those under the tent.
What is a congress without food? Not to take away anything from the Eucharist, but in some small way, we have to give thanks for the cookies that were available, especially to those of us trying to be in four places at once.
The understatement of the year was that there was a lot of praying done at the congress.
Whether it was spiritual direction or intercessory prayer, those who needed a little help talking to God got that help. Let’s not forget all of the Adoration hours also. What a blessing it was to have the Blessed Sacrament available all weekend.
I wish I could write about everything the keynote speakers said, but you’ll have to see for yourself for the full effect.
Please (you know I’m serious because we don’t often use that word in print) check out this link and view the talks for yourself. I cannot do them justice in the little space we have to summarize them.
I hope everyone got out of the congress what God willed them to get out of the congress.
Our humanity is too frail and too feeble to fully grasp Christ in the Eucharist, but we have to do the best that we can — our eternal lives depend on it.
If you feel you still have a long way to go, make use of the resources available. “Attend” again if you have to and keep “attending” until you reach the Eucharistic growth you seek.
If nothing else, go to church. Spend some time in front of the tabernacle and ask Him “What do you want of me?”
Thank you for reading.
I’m praying for you.
