BENTON — The Father Samuel Mazzuchelli Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus extend an invitation to all to attend the annual Mass to honor the Venerable Father Samuel Mazzuchelli.
The Mass will be held on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 3 p.m. at St Patrick Church in Benton.
Fr. Richard Leffler, Faithful Friar of the Mazzuchelli Assembly, will concelebrate the Mass with other local clergy.
Following the 3 p.m. Mass, the Assembly will serve their annual steak or chicken breast dinner, with rolls, salad, baked beans, baked potato, vegetable, and desert in St. Patrick’s air-conditioned reception hall.In the summer of 2007 the Mazzuchelli Assembly Knights of Columbus restored the historic St. Augustine Catholic Church in New Diggings that Father Mazzuchelli designed and built in 1844.
The Mazzuchelli Assembly members will provide tours of the restored St. Augustine Church on August 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The assembly suggests a $5 donation for tours of the church.
All funds will be used to complete the third phase of the restoration and preservation of the property, and a visiting center to complement the church.
Prior to the 3 p.m. Mass, guests will also have the opportunity to visit Father Mazzuchelli’s gravesite in St. Patrick’s cemetery in Benton and his home where he died on February 23, 1864.
