SINSINAWA –– Sr. Marina Crist, OP, died September 21, 2014, at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa September 24, 2014, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Marina made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1953, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1956. She taught for 23 years and served as a tutor for two years, business office worker for nine years, family caregiver for five years, pastoral minister for three years, and volunteer for six years. Sister Marina served in Minnesota, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Montana.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Marina taught at St. Mary, Portage, 1961-1964, and served in the business office at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1979-1983.
Sister Marina was born March 12, 1931, in Weyauwega, Wis., the daughter of William and Margaret (Esser) Crist. Her parents and a brother, William Crist Jr., preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother, John Crist; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 61 years.
