Madison Diocesan Choir offering youth scholarship
MADISON — The Madison Diocesan Choir is again offering the Patrick Gorman Youth Pastoral Musician Scholarship.
These scholarships are meant to encourage continued participation in music ministries by supporting summer music education for youth attending a summer music clinic.
The scholarship amount is $700 per award winner.
The scholarship is open to students finishing sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, or 11th grades who belong to a parish in the Diocese of Madison and participate in regularly scheduled music ministries (vocal or instrumental).
Preference will go towards new (versus former) recipients of the award.
Scholarship applicants must submit a completed application form and write an original essay responding to the two questions: “Why do I participate in music ministry?” and “How will attending a summer music clinic help me in this endeavor?”
For an application form or more information, visit madisondiocese.org/choir
All materials must be postmarked or emailed by Monday, April 1.
Award winners will be announced no later than Friday, May 31.
Completed applications should be mailed to Madison Diocesan Choir, 702 S. High Point Road, Madison, WI 53719, or emailed to scholarship@madisondiocese.org
The scholarship is funded by the diocesan choir and by additional individual contributions.
It was launched in 2018 when Gorman was the choir director and named for him in 2022 following his death in 2021.
