MADISON — Good Shepherd Parish in Madison and Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison will host an evening of reflection on the U.S. bishops’ pastoral letter against racism entitled Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love at St. James Church on Wednesday, June 23 at 7 p.m.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend this special event.
The audience will be invited to truly consider God’s enduring call to love each other wholly. The evening will include listening to thoughts shared by some non-white parishioners, as well as reflections by Bishop Hying about changes that can heal racial inequities.
The idea to host this meeting began last year, as Bishop Hying learned of an informal group of concerned parishioners at Good Shepherd Parish who were meeting to discuss the Open Wide Our Hearts documents and planning ways to bring prayer, reflection, and action to the parish.
All are welcome to enjoy refreshments and further conversation with Bishop Hying and each other following the presentation.
RSVP is not necessary but helpful. Childcare will be provided.
Please call Good Shepherd Parish office at 608-268-9930 to RSVP or for more information. St. James Church is located at 1128 St. James Ct. in Madison.
