SAUK CITY — Join in a soup supper and Lenten inspirational talk with Divine Mercy Parish at St. Aloysius Church, 115 Madison St., Sauk City on Saturday, April 1.
The supper will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the school gym following the 4:30 p.m. Mass in the church.
Matt and Rachel Sheils will share their story of how the Lord led their family home to the Catholic Church.
Matt and Rachel were formerly Protestant ministers in Canada for more than 12 years and were unlikely candidates to convert to Catholicism.
Matt was the seventh generation pastor in his family and both were happily involved in their Protestant church.
Rachel had left the Catholic Church as a teenager for what she thought were good reasons and had built up many barriers in her mind regarding Catholicism.
They were not looking to change careers, country, or creed.
Yet through a series of unexpected events and a deep desire to know God’s truth, God paved a way for their hearts and minds to see the Truth preserved in the Catholic Church.
They will share their journey, encourage you in your faith, and equip you to help others, all while giving glory to God.
Matt and Rachel are currently involved parishioners at St. Ladislaus Parish in Bevent, Wis., with Rachel currently serving as the CRE while also working as a religion teacher at Newman Catholic School.
Fr. Augustine Bentil, pastor of the parish, shared that “their story is inspiring, encouraging, and beautiful. Both Rachel and Matt have assumed great responsibility before God and the Church in becoming actively involved. By fulfilling their obligations as true Christians, they have and continue to show loving responses to those whom they contact. They are inspiring, encouraging, and vibrant young adult members of the Church.”
After dinner, Matt and Rachel will share their journey and allow time for questions.
Families are encouraged to invite friends to attend this truly inspiring and transformative evening where you will witness how God can break down barriers to build up his kingdom.
