PINE BLUFF — The 2016-17 Ladies of Divine Mercy events will kick off on Friday, Sept. 16, with an evening of reflection led by Fr. Richard Heilman, founder of the Knights of Divine Mercy and Ladies of Divine Mercy.
The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary of Pine Bluff Church, 3673 CR P, Cross Plains, with sung vespers. Father Heilman will speak at 6:45 p.m., followed by Exposition and Adoration. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Benediction will close the evening, followed by a social in the narthex. Confession will be available the entire evening.
As last year, the evening will be held the third Friday of the month, September through April. Fall speakers besides Father Heilman are Fr. Carlos Martins on October 21 at St. Ignatius, Mount Horeb, and Fr. Tafadzwa Kushamba on November 18. The December speaker is to be determined.New this year is a time change. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. rather than 6 p.m. “We wanted to give mothers enough time to finish dinner and transition the kids over to dad,” said the planning committee.
Also, Adoration will follow the speaker rather than precede. “We did it that way one evening last year out of necessity due to a snow storm and found that we liked the way the evening flowed. It also gave us more to ponder during Adoration and more to bring to Confession,” said planners.
Of special note is the October event. Fr. Carlos Martins of the Treasures of the Church will be presenting. That evening will be held at St. Ignatius Church in Mount Horeb so as to accommodate more people. All men and women are invited to attend the October event. Look for more information in the weeks to come.
