MADISON — A ceremony celebrating the Receptions, and the First and the Life Professions for the Lay Dominican community will be on Sunday, Aug. 8, during the 11 a.m. Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2116 Hollister Ave., Madison.
Mr. Jared Dembrun, Adell, Wis.; and Mr. Joseph Walkowski, Appleton, Wis.; are being received into the Dominican order.
Dr. Nicholas Eastman, Ripon, Wis.; Mrs. Rachel Dembrun, Adell, Wis.; and Mrs. Colleen Martine, Sun Prairie, Wis.; will make their First Professions.
Ms. Sarah Krans, OP, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; and Mr. Evan Williams, OP, Machesney Park, Ill.; will make their Life Professions.
Lay Dominicans are men and women, singles and couples living a Christian life with a Dominican spirituality in the secular world.
The four Dominican Pillars are community, ministry (service), study, and prayer.
Lay members have a direct role in the preaching mission.
Many pursue degrees in theology or liturgy, and fully participate in St. Dominic’s call to contemplate and share with others the fruits of contemplation.
They preach primarily in the marketplace or wherever their station in life finds them.
Members of the order find inspiration following the same spiritual path taken by many saints, blesseds, and other holy men and women throughout the 800-plus year history of the Dominican Order.
The Madison Chapter of Lay Dominicans are part of the Province of St. Albert the Great (Central USA).
