MADISON — John Joy recently started in the position of marriage and family coordinator in the Diocese of Madison’s Office of Evangelization and Catechesis.
Joy comes to Madison from northwestern Indiana where he had been teaching ethics at a high school.
Prior to that, he studied graduate level theology at the International Theological Institute in Austria for five years.
He also worked as the director of religious education at a parish in Ann Arbor, Mich., following his studies of theology at Ave Maria College in Michigan.Joy and his wife Lisa have been married for 11 years and have five children: Maria, 10; Thomas, seven; Edmund, six; Anna, three; and Patrick, one.
In a message to people involved with the diocesan marriage and family programs, Joy said, “Now here, we are just getting to know Madison and excited about making it our new home. I hope that I get to meet many of you soon, and I am eager to work with you in strengthening marriages and families here in our diocese.”
