WATERLOO — The Island Church Foundation invites the public to celebrate the Island Church’s 150th anniversary on Sunday, July 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with music, food, and children’s activities. There will be an ecumenical service at 2 p.m.
St. Wenceslaus Church was built in 1863 and closed in 1891. The church is opened to the public each year to observe St. Wenceslaus’ Day. There is a cemetery behind the church and a small museum featuring period agricultural and dairying implements.
The Island Church is a Wisconsin registered landmark, located at the intersection of Island Church and Blue Joint Rds., off Hwy. 89, south of Waterloo.
