MADISON — Ann Walsh was selected as the Irish Person of the Year by the Dane County Shamrock Club. She will be honored at the club’s Irish flag ceremony in the Capitol rotunda, 2 E. Main St., at 12 noon on Sunday, March 15; at the St. Patrick’s Day parade following the flag ceremony; and again at the club’s St. Patrick’s Day dinner on March 22. These events are open to the public.
Walsh was born in Cazenovia and attended Viterbo College in La Crosse. She worked as a legal secretary in Milwaukee, in the finance unit of the outpatient department of St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, at the Veterans Hospital in Madison, and at the U.S. District Court Western District of Wisconsin in Madison for 34 years before retiring.She is a member of the Shamrock Club and on the board of directors. She is a member of PLATO (Participatory Learning and Teaching Organization) and the Madison Jazz Society. She is a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital and on its Auxiliary Board, and she volunteers at Westshire by the Lake Retirement Community. She is a member of St. Paul’s University Catholic Center in Madison.
