PACKWAUKEE/WESTPORT — Robert B. Imhoff, age 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family the morning of November 18, 2014. He was born in Highland, Wis on May 13, 1925, to Ben and Lena (Munz) Imhoff.
On July 21, 1948 he married Edith Urban in Madison. He was the father of Marilyn Brown, Mary Imhoff, Audrey Imhoff, Janet Imhoff, David (Lisa) Imhoff, Annette (Jim) Vanover, and Terry and Linda Caulkins. Grandfather to Vito (Caitlin) DiPiazza, Catherine DiPiazza (Jeff Boatman), Russell DiPiazza (Megan McKay), Suzanna Imhoff, Alesha Imhoff, Jessica Yittri, and Carey Nelson-Yittri; Great-grandfather to Vito DiPiazza, Dominic DiPiazza, Isaac Imhoff, and Emily Nelson.
He will be missed by his brother John and many other cherished friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; brother, Bernard; sons Thomas, Russell, and Jim; son-in-law Gary Brown; daughter-in-law Cindy Imhoff; grandson Andrew Yittri; granddaughter Angel DiPiazza; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
At the age of 17, Bob enlisted in the Navy. He was a World War II veteran, serving on the USS Hancock CV-19, which received seven battle stars. He is a lifetime member of VFW Post 8483 and American Legion Post 481. He owned and operated the B&B DX filling station across the street from Oscar Mayer.
He was an avid racing fan and never missed a race for 50 years at Angel Park and worked numerous years at the Indy 500 and Daytona International Speedway, as well as Orlando Motor Speedway. Bob was an avid fisherman, and he loved to watch his family fish at his home on Buffalo Lake. He enjoyed hosting holidays at his home and eating delicious homemade food, especially Friday night fish fries and Saturday night tacos. He was a long-time member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Parish in Westport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 5460 Mary Lake Rd., Waunakee, with Fr. Rick Heilman and Fr. Jim Leeser presiding. There will be a visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. There will also be a visitation on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N Sherman Ave, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. A Rosary service will take place on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
