OREGON — Lent and spring go hand in hand — the rebirth and renewal of life.
Pope John Paul II reminds us to respond to a people and a planet in peril when in his 1990 World Day of Peace message he said, “Faced with the widespread destruction of the environment, people everywhere are coming to understand that we cannot continue to use the goods of the Earth as we have in the past. The ecological crisis is a moral crisis.”
People are invited to renew both themselves and the Earth. “Care for All of Creation” is a six-week program being offered at Holy Mother of Consolation Parish (HMC). The six topics are:
- Universe Story: A Sacred Journey
- Global Warming: Future of God’s Creation
- Water: Gift of Life
- Toxics: Cause for Caution
- Social, Economic, Environ-mental: One Earth Community
- Greening Parishes: Care for Creation
The series will begin Tuesday, March 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and will be held in the Rasmussen Room of HMC, 651 N. Main St., and will run for six consecutive weeks. The cost of the series is $5 to cover the cost of the booklet.
